“The Six Pillars of Character”

The six pillars of character are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

©     Trustworthiness: Be honest, do not cheat or steal, be reliable, Have the courage to do what is right, be loyal and build a good reputation.

©     Respect: Treat others with respect, use good manners, be tolerant and accepting of differences, be considerate, deal peacefully with anger.

©     Responsibility: Plan ahead, do what you are supposed to do, keep trying , always do your best, use self-control, be self-disciplined, think before you act .

©     Fairness: Play by the rules, take turns and share, be open minded, do not take advantage of others, treat all people fairly.

©     Caring: Be kind, be compassionate and show you care, express gratitude, forgive others, and help people in need.

©     Citizenship: Do your share to make your school and community better, get involved, be a good neighbor, and obey laws and rules.

I believe that nobody is perfect. That even the smartest person will not follow up to these 6 pillars. We are all human and make mistakes and keeping up with these pillars is quiet difficult.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people (Men and Women) who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor Union soldier, who had died during the Americas Civil War. The holiday is observed every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. For show honor and respect we can: Collections for troops, Discounts and free offers, Volunteering, Highlight soldiers’ stories, and Parades.

Something that is interesting is that it was first known as Decoration Day, the holiday was long known as Decoration Day for the practice of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags. The name Memorial Day goes back to 1882, but the older name didn't disappear until after World War II. Federal law declared "Memorial Day" the official name in 1967.

On Memorial Day I will go to visit my aunt to her house, which is sick. Probability I will go to Tijuana to see my Dad that I have three month that I do not see him.

Optician

Duties and Responsibilities: A dispensing optician is trained to dispense and fit spectacles and other optical aids, working from the prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Dispensing opticians advise patients on various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including advice on style, weight and color. They advise patients on how to wear and care for their spectacles and, with further training as contact lens opticians (CLOs), their contact lenses.

Salary: $33,770 Annual.

Education: High School diploma with on the job training or apprenticeship, or certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree in optician for career advancement.

Reflection: I wouldn’t want to be an Optician because it doesn’t seem like it’s a type of job I would want to do there is nothing interesting about it. Also, I think that anybody can get this job; it’s more like a job than a career.

He’s right, you are in control of your own decisions and nobody else has to make up your decisions that part of life you chose the wrong you learn from it and just keep going you don’t need to make decisions that puts you in the heat spot if you know it’s wrong don chose it all.

Home Health Aide

Duties and Responsibilities: Monitors patient condition by observing physical and mental condition, intake and output, and exercise. Supports patients by providing housekeeping and laundry services; shopping for food and other household requirements; preparing and serving meals and snacks; running errands. Assists patients by providing personal services, such as, bathing, dressing, and grooming. Helps patients care for themselves by teaching use of cane or walker, special utensils to eat, special techniques and equipment for personal hygiene.

Salary: $22,050 per year

Education: Aides who work for organizations that receive funds from Medicare or Medicaid must complete formal training, while those who work for private companies do not have to meet these obligations. On-the-job training is often provided by more experienced aides, nursing assistants, licensed practical or registered nurses may provide this training.

Reflection: I would like to be a Home Health Aide, because I like to help other people, but a like to helps old people whose need.

This quote means that if we want to have an independence and freedom we must need to do the right, but how can we do the right? Easy we must being by choosing the right (CTR) such like began to be friendly, kind, respectful with others, responsible of own actions.

Summary about the Video 5

What the boys did in football field was pretty nice. Many of the peoples take time for other who needs something, but in this situation the football player from the Olivet Middle School in Olivet, Mich., broke tackles during a game and slid right before he was able to cross the goal line for an easy touchdown. They decide that they going to give an opportunity to a kid who is a special need a touchdown.

Presidents Day

Monday February 16

Presidents’ Day is an American holiday. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. The purpose is to honor the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures. It celebrated on the third Monday in February. To honor these figures is to cook some of their favorites food such like George Washington liked it like spice cakes with sugared almond paste, macaroons and fruit pies of all sorts, or like Abraham Lincoln like such like eggs and bacon or cook cornbread and venison.

Police Officer

Duties and Responsibilities: They are responsible for patrolling an assigned are to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulation, thy also responsible to calls, talking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance.

Salary: $57,360 Annual.

Education: The basic qualifications for becoming a police officer are generally similar across states, because most use civil service regulations when hiring officers. The minimum prerequisites for police officers include the following:
*Be a United States citizen.
*Be at least 21 years of age.
*Have a high school diploma or equivalent education.

*Have no prior convictions.

Reflection: I would like to be one of this because I really want how they dress, and I really want that most of the people respect me outside of the street, also I would like to be one of this because this medical career have action and I really love the action.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11^th hour of the 11^th day of the 11^th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day: Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, remembering the men and woman who died while serving.

My feeling about all this veterans who risked their life is respect because they fought for their country and some of them die.
